Celebrity Host
James "Buster" Douglas

James "Buster" Douglas is a former undisputed world heavyweight boxing champion who surprised the world in one of the most shocking upsets in sports history when he knocked out undefeated champion Mike Tyson on February 11, 1990. At the time, Tyson was considered to be the best boxer in the world and arguably one of the most feared heavyweight champions in history due to his utter domination of the division. Vegas odds had Douglas as a 42-to-1 underdog for the fight.

Douglas, son of former middleweight & light-heavyweight contender William "Dynamite" Douglas, had been fighting since the early 1980s. Douglas had a phenomenal career, being undefeated in his first 17 fights and winning his last two fights by first round knockout.

Among his most notable early fights were points wins over Randall "Tex" Cobb and former world titlist Greg Page, and a stoppage loss against David Bey. Douglas had a run of 6 consecutive wins, including decisions over Oliver McCall and Trevor Berbick and a knockout of Mike WIlliams to earn a shot at the heavyweight championship. He retired in 1999 with a final record of 38 wins, (25 wins by KO), 6 losses, and 1 draw.

A happy family man, Douglas lives near Columbus, Ohio where he grew up. Douglas maintains a healthy lifestyle, after nearly dying during a diabetic coma 15 years ago, Douglas has his diabetes under control and has written a cookbook along with co-author, Tony Reynolds, entitled, "Buster's Backyard Bar-B-Q Knockout Diabetes Diet."

Douglas made his feature film acting debut in the Artie Knapp science fiction comedy film, Pluto's Plight. He is the star of the video game, "James 'Buster' Douglas Knockout Boxing" for Sega Master System and Sega Genesis.

Nineteen years later, Douglas' remarkable upset of Tyson continues to be mentioned as proof that anything is possible. Occasionally his kids will see a clip of boxing's biggest upset. It's a teach moment for their father. "I always tell them, 'You know what? There's nothing that you can't do. Whatever you want to try, try, do it. Because you never know,'" Douglas said, "I'm a prime example of that. Never say never, right?"
